The Shire of Trayning

In 1915,the Shire was established and it is made up of three towns of Traying, Kununoppin and Yelbini. The Shire of Traying mainly consists of agricultural land,natural reserves and national parks in the Northeastern wheat region of Western Australia.It is a tourist spot consists of mostly farming community who are devoted to wheat,coarse grains and various livestocks.


The name ‘Traying’ derived after the word ‘Traying Well’ to the district and it is derived from the two aboriginal names ‘durri-iring’ or ‘duranning’, which means to crawl and a camping place and with time became known as ‘snake crawling in the grass near campsite.
